WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THERAPY?
I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to make that first phone call and walk through the door of the counselling room.
As your therapist, I will be working hard to offer you a safe, confidential space where you can talk about yourself and your life and any areas which may be confusing, painful or feel difficult or stuck. You will have an opportunity to think and talk about yourself and your concerns in a way that might be difficult with family or friends. This is a space and time which is just for you to explore the things which are bothering you without being judged. I will do my best to listen to how you feel and how these things are affecting yourself and your relationships. I understand how hard it can be to talk about problems and to express how you are feeling about things and I will do my best to create a good therapeutic relationship where we can build trust and work together to help you make any changes you would like to happen in your life.
You will remain in control of the process and I will answer honestly and openly, any questions which you may have as we go along. I will welcome and encourage any feedback you may have with regard to the therapy.

When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for.
The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.
Sessions last about 1 hour and the number of sessions will vary depending on individual needs. We will regularly review together to check that the pace and direction of the therapy is right for you.
